So a friend of mine and i took our kids bowling yest. we had a BLAST! i was a little concerned about taking alivia (2 1/2) with us because i wasnt sure if she was big enough yet but i decided to go ahead and give it a try. Skylar did great for her first time ever bowling. she ended with a score in the low 70's (i forget the exact number), my friends little boy, who just recently turned 4, got in the upper 60's and Alivia got in the upper 50's. the older 2 did it all on their own and of course i helped alivia but not much. she carried the ball (4lbs) up to the lane, i helped her set it down and she would push it. it was soooo funny because it would go sooooo slow but hey she did it! it got stuck in the lane 1 time and another time it went so slow that the pins stopped it without knocking any of them over! It took us almost 1 1/2 hours to bowl 1 game but everybody had soooo much fun. we are gonna try to start going like 1 time a month or something for a treat.

That sounds like a lot of fun. We have been trying to muster up the energy to go bowling as a family here too.. I mentioned it to dh the other day and he was like.. "are you going to wear the shoes?" I hesitated .. (I have a thing about germs, LOL) and I was like.. maybe. We bowl as a family on the wii, but I really think the bowling alley experience can only be really had in reality. I hope we can go soon.. any recommendations for some family friendly alleys .. (not smokey, clean, etc.)

Thanks :)

I don't think they can smoke at any of them anymore, so you should be good there.

I haven't been in forever to Willow but that one is suppose to be family friendly. I like going to Franklin lanes because of their hamburgers they serve there. But I haven't been in awhile so I am not sure if they are serving the same kind.

And the big one Arc - always a good place to go.

I used to take the kids when they were younger to Meadow Lanes because on spring break they would run a deal of 25 cent bowling. We used to have a blast. Sad they are closed now.

I wont take my kids to arc because when i was a teenager, it was always full of rowdy teenagers and there were always problems there. i am sure it is better now since you cant cruise greenriver rd now but i am still leary about it.

we went to diamond and it was at about 5 when we got there and every lane had kids and the ages ranged. it was nice because we didnt have to worry about disrupting the serious bowlers and being too noisy. It is smoke free and has pool tables too. the guys working last night were really friendly too. when alivia's ball got stuck, they were really nice about going and getting it. there was also a family next to us with kids about the same age as ours and their ball got stuck several times too and they never got angry about it.

i would really like to take them glow bowling sometime but it doesnt start until like 9pm so i think it would be way too late to take the kids.

The highest I ever scored without bumpers was a 50 :o

Ohhhh, I have not been bowling forever! That sounds like so much fun. Maybe I can drag dh out for V-Day. Do you think the bowling alley's will be crowded that day?

i would think it mostly depends on what time you would go but i really dont know how busy they would be.

We had Nolan's 6th birthday party at ARC lanes this past December. We had a blast-- my mom even got to do it since we had a couple of lanes with the bumpers up (since she is legally blind she wouldn't have been able to participate otherwise). We bowled at ARC when I was a teenager and in college and it has really calmed down. It helps that it is smoke-free and will hopefully stay that way. A good thing to do is call ahead and reserve lanes that way if you want to be on the end by the bathrooms (which I recommend) they can accomodate you.

I would definitely be in for a bowl 4 a cure.

That sounds like sooo much fun! I can't wait til I can take little Gavin out to do activities like that! Glad you all had fun!!! She'll do better next time I'm sure!

I would def be down for bowl for a cure. Maybe we could do something with teams like hubby/wife, mother/daughter, girlfriends, ect for some sort of little prize or something like gift cards or a dinner somewhere in town. Like which ever team gets the highest score, the team with the most strikes in a row, ect.
