These look so fun!!! And I have a whole bucket of crayons that otherwise would be thrown away! We are def going to try this!

Materials:
tiny/broken crayons
metal muffin pan

Remove all crayon labels. Fill each muffin tin with a handful of broken crayons.
Preheat oven to 350. Heat crayons for 3-5 minutes, until the crayons have melted to a liquid and a few chunks remain in the center (this prevents burning)
Remove from oven. Let them cool for 25 minutes and then place in freezer for another half hour.
Pop them out and they are ready to be used!

Use the mini muffin pan or if you can find a heart shape or egg shape pan....those would be fun too!

(found this idea in the Parent/Child magazine!)

i have done this and the kids love to use them but i have to warn u since u have to peel all of the paper off of the crayons, it can be more time consuming than one might think. i also recommend separating the colors because if u just mix colors, they tend to all come out brown.

When I worked at the Y, we did this all the time because it was way cheaper for us to re-use instead of buying new ones all the time. The kids loved when we would mix the colors too. Somehow they don't turn brown like you would think. It would just switch colors when the kids used them.
