My daughter, Alivia, will be 2 on Sept. 13 and i am really struggling for gift ideas. I already got her a quilt and sheet set for her bed and i am collecting my little ponies for her so i will be getting a couple of those. i would like to get a little something else and everyone else has been asking for ideas and i dont know what to tell them. she is really into babies and balls but we have tons of both! i am a pack rat when it comes to toys. i still have every toy we have gotten since skylar (5 1/2) was born unless it was broken so we have tons. i have already told some people clothes but she doesnt need very many more cause i have racked up at yard sales this summer...even for fall and winter! we dont usually do movies and we literally have hundreds of books (i know you can never have to many but our book shelf is totally out of room and i dont really have room for another one!

i really need some ideas...it just seems like we already have so much! i would be ok with people getting toys if they aren't too big so if anyone has any good ideas (toys or otherwise) i would love to hear them! thanks

i know for my nieces birthdays i usually let them spend the day with me just the two of us and we go to the mall or somewhere and do something fun and take pictures type thing. Maybe thats a suggestion of somethign to do that doesnt collect alot of things around the house.

My daughter will be 2 on Sept 19th! So I hope you get some good suggestions....cuz I'm faced with the same challenge! You can only imagine how many toys we have with her being the baby of 4 kids! It's like a toy store in their bedrooms! It's craziness! I'm wanting to think outside the box this year!
*

One thing I'm gonna ask my Dad to buy her or "pitch in on" if it's too expensive....they have 2 year old mommy & me classes at Acros. Kinda like a intro to dance. I would LOVE for her to start this fall..and if I can get my Dad to pitch in on a gift card from there, that would be sweet! She watches her big sister do ballet and tapp and she will walk around on her "tippy toes" and say tippy toe tippy toe..it's so funny!

*

Another idea, there is a shop on Morgan Avenue. It's called Pretty Little Princess. It's full of all girly things! Hairbows, lil bracelets, lil purses....all reasonably priced! I don't know if they offer gift cards, but they have some cute stuff in there!!!

I agree with Belinda on thinking outside of the toybox. My parents always buy our zoo membership passes as part of their birthday presents, and part of our Christmas presents from my in-laws are Holiday World passes. I do "special days" for my nieces and nephews were they choose the what we do (within reason). You could suggest some gift certificates for Pump It Up or Build A Bear. Instead of making new bears, we take the ones we have and get them new clothes. I often give bathtub items like soap crayons, fizzy tablets, fun bubble baths, ect... for the kids I know already have enough toys and clothes.

I would also suggest that prior to the big day (birthday or otherwise), go through the toys and clothes and weed out what has been outgrown, broken, or just generally unwanted and toss or donate them (MAKE SURE THE KIDS ARE NOT AROUND WHEN YOU DO THIS--IT WILL SAVE YOU SOME HEADACHES). We've been really good about doing this and the boys are now participating.

i do try to go through the toys about 1 time a month and switch them out. i have a huge rubbermaid container that i can switch them out and they get so excited when i do this. i dont get rid of toys because i baby sit and almost all of my friends have kids and they come over a lot and they are all different ages from my sister's kids that i watch mon-fri that are 8 months to my oldest that is 5 1/2 (and i know 2 others that are prego and do any time!)so i keep toys that are age appropriate for all because they are here so much. the minute i see something broken, it is gone!

i am trying to think outside of the box as well. my cousin suggested dance classes or something but Alivia is NOT one to do what she is asked to do. she will always do it but in her own time so i really think that it would be a huge waste of money! i thought about pump it up but arent they only open a few hours through the day and only on certain days? we only have one car and i babysit so that would be super difficult. build a bear is an idea. my cousin got them bears for x-mas and we got them stuffed so maybe we could do new clothes. my sister was going to get her ears pierced but she is wild child and i dont think she would let me clean them and i think she would rip them out! ooooh she's a tough one!!!

thanks for the ideas and please keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I know! I am just curious for other ideas, since I'm going to be more in charge of gifts for this kiddo than for the other two.
